A fan blog about the AHL's Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins

Dan Is The Man

The alternative headline today was going to be, “The Waiting is the Hardest Part” in regards to there being no announcement all day about who Wilkes-Barre / Scranton was bringing in as a sixth defenseman. I planned on linking to today’s Bombulie blog update and just filling up the space with nonsense.

Well, on my way home from work today (my real job) the ECHL Transactions release went out after 5 p.m. like it always does. On today’s, it notes that defensemen Dan Henningson has been loaned to Wilkes-Barre / Scranton.

So there you have it.

Henningson is 6’1 and 190 pounds and an Edmonton native. He went undrafted. He actually was an invite to WBS camp a few years ago and played in Wheeling last season and captained the team. This year with the Chicago Express in 18 games he is 1-2-3 and a +4 with 8 PIMs.

I asked Wheeling’s beat writer Shawn Rine of The Intelligencer for a quick scouting report on Henningson and here’s what he had to say:

Sounds like the perfect fit for a team that is in need of a defenseman.

Wilkes-Barre takes on Binghamton tomorrow in New York. I will be making the trek. Look for the Gameday post with all you need for pre game up here at 3 p.m.

Let’s Go Pens!
