The Reinforcements Arrive

Announced today that Simon Despres, Brian Strait and Eric Tangradi were re-assigned to Wilkes-Barre by Pittsburgh after the parent Penguins season ended on Sunday afternoon.

Also announced at the same time were the signings of Dominik Uher and Reid McNeill by Wilkes-Barre. Uher and McNeill will join the Black Aces practice squad.

It’s anticipated that Despres, Strait and Tangradi will be dressed and available for Game 3 Wednesday in Hershey. Now the question becomes who, of the current core of players that have the Bears in an 0-2 hole, sits.

Defensemen are simple. Cody Wild and Philip Samuelsson sit for Simon Despres and Brian Strait.

Forward is a bit harder. Tangradi is a winger, so the centers are safe. You are left with Nick Petersen, Colin McDonald, Geoff Walker, Bryan Lerg, Brandon DeFazio and Paul Thompson. McDonald isn’t going to sit. No way Walker or Lerg sit either. Cases can be made for DeFazio, Thompson and Nick Petersen all to stay too.

So, it’s a good time for me to bust out the poll machine and let you, the reader, vote on who among DeFazio, Thompson or Petersen sit for Tangradi.

I am sure Jonathan Bombulie will have more later. Get to voting!

Let’s Go Pens!
