In what can best be described as the dog days of the summer, as there has been absolutely nothing in the way of matrix, schedule or league news at all, the news today that the Penguins have agreed to terms with Jayson Megna come as a breath of fresh air to me because it finally gives me a chance to get back on the blog and write.
Wait, who?
Exactly. Apparently, Megna was a Penguins development camp invitee. Honestly, that is all I know about the guy. He was signed to an NHL contract (two-way) and will most likely see time in Wilkes-Barre at some point fairly soon.
Here are a bunch of tweets about Megna from more intelligent people:

Megna sounds like he has his head on right too, based off of the following:

Eric P, who runs BangBodies.com had a more in depth note on Megna with a note from someone who watched and covered Megna in college in Nebraska.
It would appear that the Pittsburgh Penguins, save for restricted free agents not signing, are done adding bodies for the farm. I would project that Wilkes-Barre goes out and signs someone to an AHL deal to bolster depth at defense. But that’s a blog post for another day.
