Week 7 AHL Power Rankings

NOTE: News of the day from Coal Street included Brian Gibbons’ recall and four recalls from Wheeling. Read about it here.

More bad than good in Week 7 of the AHL Power Rankings. That’s why teams like the Chicago Wolves are up 13 spots in 9th this week after winning five in a row.

It also seems like the team that gets to number one, can’t stay there. Last week it was the Grand Rapids Griffins. They lost two this week to divisional foes and are down seven spots in eighth.

If the Abbotsford Heat won ten in a row, they’d be number one. Ilya Bryzgalov made sure that didn’t happen Saturday in Oklahoma City so the Binghamton Senators are your new number one. Can they stay there? They have one this week with Adirondack, whom they are 1-2 against and two this weekend with the Hershey Bears, the only team this week not to go anywhere in the rankings this week.

Biggest fall this week belongs to your Syracuse Crunch, down eleven to thirteenth.

I think you’re doing a great job with this…my only issue this week is St John’s jumping 5 spots. They went 1-0-0-2 at home vs the last ranked team and only scored six goals. Judging that against Portland, who went 2-0-0-1 against teams that were all ranked in front of them with two of them on the road and only went up two.

I could have left them right where they were and I considered that, but gave them a boost for getting points in all their games and staying in the mix at the near quarter pole.

      I always appreciate the feedback.

I might not have noticed if it wasn’t us that played them and they’re all in our division. LOL

Week 7 and the first time I really scratched my head…that’s pretty good if you ask me.
