So, how is your team doing at the All-Star break?
There are some good teams, like Calgary, who have been perpetually good. The Wranglers are the number one team this week knocking off the Bears, who drop to fifth.
Lots of miles ahead and can’t wait to see how it shakes out, let’s get into it.
1. Calgary Wranglers
Last Week: 2nd (up 1)
Record: 29-14-2
Lead the division by six over the rest of the competition but there are good teams in the Pacific Division with games in hand.
2. Laval Rocket
Last Week: 3rd (up 1)
Record: 28-11-2-1
Swept Hartford at home this week to keep on top of the North by one over the Americans.
3. Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins
Last Week: 8th (up 5)
Record: 24-11-4
Dropped nine on the Bears on Wednesday and split in Charlotte and still have a ton of games in hand. It’s going to be a busy second half in Wilkes-Barre.
4. Toronto Marlies
Last Week: 9th (up 5)
Record: 24-11-2-4
Ten game road trip concludes with the Marlies going 7-2-0-1 – that’s not bad and have Toronto in the mix.
5. Hershey Bears
Last Week: 1st (down 4)
Record: 28-12-5
Getting smashed 9-0 to the Penguins and keeping the very bad Islanders in it, twice at home, knock the Bears from the top spot this week. Bears showing signs they may be cooked, at least as a division leader.
6. Rochester Americans
Last Week: 6th (no change)
Record: 27-12-3-1
Amerks have a four game win streak as they hit the break and look to chase down the Rocket for tops in the North.
7. Coachella Valley Firebirds
Last Week: 13th (up 6)
Record: 24-15-1-5
Pair of OT wins in Texas and stopping Abbotsford’s eight game win streak makes for a good week to be a Firebirds fan.
8. Bakersfield Condors
Last Week: 16th (up 8)
Record: 19-15-4-2
Points in four straight and on the rise. Condors have games in hand on the entire division.
9. Colorado Eagles
Last Week: 18th (up 9)
Record: 24-12-3-2
Fixed whatever was broken this week and beat Ontario in California and then flew to Michigan and shutout the Central Division leading Griffins on back to back nights.
10. Providence Bruins
Last Week: 7th (down 3)
Record: 24-14-4-1
Split a pair in Cleveland this weekend, home and home with the Thunderbirds next weekend.
11. Ontario Reign
Last Week: 11th (no change)
Record: 26-14-1-1
Reign are in a decent spot with three games in hand over the Wranglers.
12. Cleveland Monsters
Last Week: 12th (no change)
Record: 24-13-3-3
Monsters split with the Bruins this week at home and now head to Pennsylvania to take on the Penguins and Bears.
13. Texas Stars
Last Week: 4th (down 9)
Record: 24-14-3
Dropped three straight this week but it was a bad week overall for Central Division teams playing Pacific Division teams.
14. Abbotsford Canucks
Last Week: 10th (down 4)
Record: 23-17-1-1
Eight game win streak ended in Coachella Valley, then the Canucks lost two in a row before cleaning up and beating Calgary.
15. Charlotte Checkers
Last Week: 17th (up 2)
Record: 24-13-3-2
I kind of think that the battle for an Atlantic Division bye will come down to Charlotte and the Penguins. Or maybe they finish 1-2 in some combination.
16. Chicago Wolves
Last Week: 24th (up 8)
Record: 24-16-2
Wolves hit the break with a four game win streak, but two of those came this week against the lowly Moose.
17. Grand Rapids Griffins
Last Week: 5th (down 12)
Record: 25-14-3-1
Getting shutout on back to back nights against the Eagles on home ice was a flaw, wasn’t it?
18. San Jose Barracuda
Last Week: 14th (down 4)
Record: 23-13-2-3
Can’t be splitting with teams like Henderson when it looks like you are heading in the wrong direction.
19. Utica Comets
Last Week: 20th (up 1)
Record: 15-21-3-2
Picked up three points this week. Still think the Comets don’t finish last in the North.
20. Springfield Thunderbirds
Last Week: 23rd (up 3)
Record: 21-17-2-2
Nice weekend trip to Iowa where the Thunderbirds picked up two wins. Thunderbirds are 7-2-0-1 in their last ten.
21. Lehigh Valley Phantoms
Last Week: 21st (no change)
Record: 21-17-5-1
One game this week in Bridgeport and the Phantoms dropped nine on the Islanders.
22. Milwaukee Admirals
Last Week: 15th (down 7)
Record: 21-15-3-4
Admirals cast away points to Manitoba of all teams this week.
23. Rockford IceHogs
Last Week: 22nd (down 1)
Record: 17-19-5-1
Shootout win over Milwaukee was the only bright spot for the IceHogs this week. Trip to Texas this weekend.
24. Henderson Silver Knights
Last Week: 19th (down 5)
Record: 15-27-2
Salvage bad week with a shootout win in San Jose. Next six are at home.
25. Belleville Senators
Last Week: 28th (up 3)
Record: 18-15-1-4
Not a bad week, but a lot of work will be waiting for the Senators when they came back from the All-Star break.
26. Tucson Roadrunners
Last Week: 25th (down 1)
Record: 19-19-2-1
Winless in eight and now seven on the road coming out of the break.
27. Syracuse Crunch
Last Week: 29th (up 2)
Record: 18-15-6-4
OT loser point against Rochester is all the Crunch get to write home about this week.
28. Hartford Wolf Pack
Last Week: 27th (down 1)
Record: 18-21-4-1
OT loser points this week. The Wolf Pack have dropped out of playoff contention.
29. Bridgeport Islanders
Last Week: 26th (down 3)
Record: 10-30-2-2
Hung in there and ultimately lost two in Hershey this week. Gave up nine on Wednesday to the Phantoms.
30. Iowa Wild
Last Week: 31st (up 1)
Record: 14-26-2-1
Got smoked by a pair of Atlantic Division teams. Winnable games against Manitoba this week.
31. Manitoba Moose
Last Week: 32nd (up 1)
Record: 12-25-1-1
Moose open after the break with six at home. Maybe that will help this bad team.
32. San Diego Gulls
Last Week: 30th (down 2)
Record: 12-23-4-2
This team is going no where. Not epically bad like Bridgeport, but close.
I mean it’s a lot warmer in San Diego this time of year then it is in most places, so at least you have that going for you, Gulls fans.
Have a great week, everyone!
