AHL Power Rankings – Week 25

Just three more of these after today and the season wraps but there is still lots to be determined. Let’s get right into it with a bit of a shakeup to the top five.

1. Colorado Eagles

Last Week: 1st (no change)
Record: 38-17-5-3

Lead maintains in the Pacific Division this week but a Canuck is growing in the mirror.

2. Laval Rocket

Last Week 2nd (no change)
Record: 42-17-3-1

Neck and neck with the Americans makes for a fun final few weeks to see how this shakes out between the two.

3. Texas Stars

Last Week: 4th (up 2)
Record: 40-20-3

Stars have a five game win streak and host the last place Iowa Wild this week.

4. Abbotsford Canucks

Last Week: 6th (up 2)
Record: 37-23-2-1

Canucks are 9-0 and demand your attention. Heating up at the right time.

5. Rochester Americans

Last Week: 9th (up 4)
Record: 39-18-3-3

Amerks have an easy-ish schedule this week looking to keep pace with Laval for the division lead.

Wilkes-Barre solidifies their push for a first round bye in Charlotte, get a week off and travel to a struggling Cleveland team next weekend.

9. Ontario Reign

Record: 37-22-3-1

Fun series with the Eagles this past weekend to close up the gap a bit.

10.  Providence Bruins

Last Week: 5th (down 5)
Record: 36-21-4-3

Got roughed up by the Checkers early last week and host the Checkers this weekend in a series that has seeding implications for both teams.

11. Milwaukee Admirals

Last Week: 16th (up 5)
Record: 34-21-5-6

Admirals locked up a playoff spot but seem to be letting the Stars slip away.

12. Toronto Marlies

Last Week: 18th (up 4)
Record: 33-21-3-6

Marlies playing above the rest of the chaff in the North not named Laval or Rochester.

Barracuda remain on their .500 hockey kick.

15. Lehigh Valley Phantoms

Last Week: 14th (down 1)
Record: 32-26-5-2

Split a Canadian trip between Belleville (loss) and Laval (win) -0 can’t really be doing that when you are trying to defend a playoff berth.

16. Coachella Valley Firebirds

Last Week: 13th (down 3)
Record: 34-22-2-5

Big mid week matchup with Colorado this week as the Firebirds are still jockeying for position in the wild Pacific.

17. San Diego Gulls

Last Week: 24th (up 7)
Record: 27-29-5-3

Gulls have won three straight and could surpass Tucson or Bakersfield for the final playoff spot in the Pacific.

18. Springfield Thunderbirds

Last Week: 26th (up 8)
Record: 32-26-2-4

Thunderbirds get a lift with the terrible Iowa Wild dropping in to preserve their playoff seeding.

19. Syracuse Crunch

Last Week: 12th (down 7)
Record: 29-21-8-4

Huge game this Wednesday with the Senators and the winner will have a points advantage for the final playoff spot in the North.

20. Calgary Wranglers

Last Week: 15th (down 5)
Record: 32-25-4-3

Wranglers are fading, badly. They won’t miss the playoffs, will they?

21. Belleville Senators

Last Week: 19th (down 2)
Record: 30-24-4-5

Senators have a gauntlet to run to open April, seeing Rochester three times in the first four games of the month.

22. Rockford IceHogs

Record: 28-28-6-2

Split with the Moose, are okay playoff wise and should look to improve their seeding.

Record: 27-30-6-2

Wolf Pack are sure making it fun trying desperately to make it into the playoffs.

24. Utica Comets

Record: 25-30-5-2

Comets looking to spoil up playoff teams berths and seedings, going out honorably.

25. Grand Rapids Griffins

Last Week: 26th (up 1)
Record: 32-25-4-2

Griffins clinch a spot in the playoffs this week, but it seems like Grand Rapids are backing in.

26. Cleveland Monsters

Last Week: 23rd (down 3)
Record: 31-22-5-6

Slumping Monsters host streaking Penguins this weekend. That’s not going to help Cleveland’s playoff chances.

27. Henderson Silver Knights

Last Week: 25th (down 2)
Record: 27-33-3-1

Eight points out with eight games to play in Henderson and the Silver Knights need a miracle to clinch a post season berth.

28. Bakersfield Condors

Record: 28-25-7-3

Condors got points in all their games this week, which should help boost their dimming playoff chances.

Record: 30-29-3-2

Roadrunners are 3-7 in their last ten and fading.

30. Manitoba Moose

Record: 23-36-2-3

Moose just looking to play spoiler here in the final weeks of the season.

31. Iowa Wild

Last Week: 31st (no change)
Record: 22-35-5-1

Wild playing out the string, get thumped in Springfield this past weekend.

32. Bridgeport Islanders

Last Week: 32nd (no change)
Record: 14-43-4-3

The Islanders are epically bad.

If the Islanders win 20 games this season I will give one of you $100.

Have a great week everyone!
