AHL Power Rankings: Week 1

It’s the first weekend of AHL hockey for the 2016-17 season and the Week 1 AHL Power Rankings are due.

If you are new to this, it’s one guys attempt at ranking all the AHL teams, 1-30. It runs all season on Monday at 4 p.m. most times, right here on the blog.

In this weeks version, the defending champs sit at the top of the mountain after raising a banner and beating a division rival.

The Eastern Conference runner ups and their closest competition are 2 and 3 this week.

Every team played a game this week except for the Bakersfield Condors, who are ranked, you just have to find them.

I won’t keep you. The Rankings begin after the jump if you didn’t link in direct.

AHL Power Rankings: Week 28

Another year in the can for the American Hockey League, their 80th and one of the best yet.

You have two teams in the East and the West which were the classes of the field. You have two teams that are serious dark horses to knock off the favorites.

How I do this, as I have in prior years, is that all 16 teams that qualify for the postseason are in your top 16 in the final rankings. The division winners are your top 4. This year, your dark horses are five and six.

I won’t keep you because it is this seasons last version of this. I have done this for three straight years and this by far is my most read, most popular piece on the blog because it brings in fans from all over the AHL here every Monday at 4 p.m.

AHL Power Rankings: Week 27

It’s the final week of the regular season and there is one playoff spot available in the East and one in the West down to two teams in the East and three in the West.

There are teams that are fine tuning for playoffs, while others are scrambling for positioning and others that are playing spoiler to playoff sides and others jockeying to get in. With two spots left, it’s shaping up to be a great end to the AHL’s 80th season.

No change to the top four this week. So if you memorized those last week, you are good to go. If not, click through the jump if you didn’t link in direct.

If you don’t know who, you either haven’t been paying enough attention to the AHL this season or you don’t read these Rankings on a weekly basis.
