Last Game: Last night at home, the Pens played the Manchester Monarchs and won 4-1. Colin McDonald had two goals and was named the games first star. For Syracuse, they hosted the Norfolk Admirals last night and won 6-3. Patrick Maroon had a hat trick, and assist and was +4 for the Crunch against a depleted Norfolk team.

Last Meeting: January 7 in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens lost 4-3. Geoff Walker had two goals in this game for the Pens in the loss.

Record: For WBS: 23-12-1-4 (51 pts., 2nd place East Division) For SYR: 18-15-3-2 (41 pts., 4th place East Division)

Why you should care: The Penguins should be concerned about the Syracuse Crunch who have been a team who has had the Pens number all year long. Tonight’s game is a televised one and is also sell-out, so Wilkes-Barre needs to come out strong against this team and put them away early.

Last Game: This past Sunday in St. John’s the Pens won in overtime 4-3. Ben Street had a goal and an assist and won the game in overtime. For Manchester, this past Sunday the Monarchs lost at home to the Portland Pirates 4-1. Nick Deslauriers had the lone goal for the Monarch in the loss.

Record: For WBS: 22-12-1-4 (49 pts., 3rd place East Division) For MCH: 21-18-0-2 (44 pts., 3nd place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: Regular season game 1,000 for the Penguins tonight. The Penguins will be looking to infuse the road success into home play. The Monarchs have lost five in a row, so they will be hungry and ready against the Pens tonight.

Last Game / Last Meeting: Last night, the Pens won a thrill a minute game 6-4 on three shorthanded goals. Bryan Lerg had two goals and an assist for the Pens in the win, while Brett Festerling had a goal and an assist and was +2 for the IceCaps in the loss.

Record: For WBS: 21-12-1-4 (47 pts., 3rd place East Division) — For StJ: 22-10-4-1 (49 pts., 1st place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: Rematch in less than 24 hours for the Pens and IceCaps. Expect Scott Munroe vs. Edward Pasquale in goal. IceCaps remain an elite team, if the Pens could skate out of Newfoundland with four points, this would be a great thing.

Last Game: Tuesday in Norfolk, the Pens won 3-2. Ben Street had a goal and an assist in the win. For St. John’s, Wednesday at home the beat the Toronto Marlies 3-2. Captain Jason Jaffray had a goal and two assists in the victory.

Record: For WBS: 20-12-1-4 (45 pts., 3rd place East Division) — For StJ: 22-9-4-1 (49 pts., 1st place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: Pens get to matchup against one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference not named Hershey. This will be an interesting test to see how Wilkes-Barre stacks up against one of the AHL’s elite.

Last Game: Saturday in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens lost to the Syracuse Crunch 4-3. Geoff Walker had a two goals for the Pens in the loss. For Norfolk, they lost to the Albany Devils 3-1. Richard Panik had the lone goal in the loss.

Last Meeting: January 4 in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens were thumped by the Admirals 5-1. Penguin killer Cory Conacher had two goals and an assist in the win for Norfolk.

Record: For WBS: 19-12-1-4 (43 pts., 3rd place East Division) — For NOR: 21-12-1-2 (45 pts., 2nd place East Division)

Why you should care: Norfolk simply has the Penguins number. Much like the Penguins vs. the Bears, it looks like the Admirals know what the Penguins are going to do even before the Penguins. Pens cannot simply look past this team any longer. Things aren’t going to be easy with Colin McDonald and Eric Tangradi currently on recall to Pittsburgh. Perhaps less will be more for the Pens?

Last Game: Last night vs. the Rochester Americans, the Pens won in a shootout 4-3. Eric Tangradi had a power play goal in the third period and scored the game winning shootout goal. For Syracuse, last night in Hamilton the Crunch lost 5-2. Patrick Maroon had a goal and was named third star of the game.

Last Meeting: December 16 in Syracuse, the Pens won 3-2. Brandon DeFazio had two goals and was named first star of the game.

Record: For WBS: 19-11-1-4 (43 pts., 3rd place East Division) For SYR: 14-15-3-1 (32 pts., 5th place East Division)

Why you should care: Eric Tangradi gave Pens beat writer Jonathan Bombulie a quote yesterday I found interesting enough to mention here. It goes as follows: “Tonight was the easy one. Tomorrow’s the true test,” he said. “We’ve been pretty good coming back when we lay an egg. It will be the real test to see when we come out and put a good effort in if we can put another 60 minutes in.”

Last Game: Wednesday at home vs. Norfolk, the Pens lost 5-1. Nick Petersen scored the only game for the Pens. For Rochester, they hosted Hamilton last Friday night at home and lost 5-4. Derek Whitmore and Paul Szczechura both had a goal and assist each in the loss.

Last Meeting: October 13 in Rochester, the Pens won 5-1. Bryan Lerg and Brian Strait both scored goals for the Pens in the win.

Record: For WBS: 18-11-1-4 (41 pts., 3rd place East Division) — For RCH: 15-13-4-1 (35 pts., 2nd place North Division)

Why you should care: The Pens are bad at home. But the Pens are a good team, so look for a better result than what went down on Wednesday. Brad Thiessen has been slipping. But look for Thiessen to bounce back and put in a good showing tonight if he gets the nod in net.
