Why You Should Care: Penguins, I get the sense from last night, were not impressed with the way that they played against Hershey in a losing effort. I get the sense that the last place Providence Bruins are coming in as a wolf in sheeps clothing and that he Pens need to take very seriously their opponent today. I don’t want to say that anything in November is must win, but today surely feels like it, with last night’s performance still fresh in our minds.

Why You Should Care: Both teams coming off of bad losses last night, the Pens in OT and the Bears in a blowout to Lehigh Valley. These teams don’t need a reason to get up for one another so expect a lively affair tonight in Wilkes-Barre.

vs.

Who: Charlotte Checkers

Where: Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza

When: 7:05 p.m.

Last Game: Wednesday morning in Springfield, Tristan Jarry became the fourteenth AHL goaltender to score a goal as the penguins beat the Thunderbirds 5-1. For Charlotte, the Checkers were in Allentown on Wednesday and lost 3-2 in overtime. Andrew Poturalski and Julien Gauthier scored goals for the Checkers in the loss.

Referee(s): Olivier Gouin / Michael Markovic

Linesmen: Tyler Loftus / J.P. Waleski

Why You Should Care: Penguins face a big test with the Charlotte Checkers coming in. The Checkers are the AHL’s best team and are looking to separate themselves finally from the rest of the Atlantic Division. The Penguins, on the other hand, sit just five points out of first place and want to tighten that gap up considerably this weekend.

Listen: Nick Hart on the call on WILK.

Watch: AHLTV is new and improved and a lot cheaper.

Other Game to Watch: Springfield have lost four straight. Can they right the ship at home against the North Division leader Rochester Americans?

Last Meeting: On opening night, October 6 in Wilkes-Barre, the Penguins won 3-2 in a shootout. Zach Aston-Reese scored a regulation goal and the only goal in the shootout.

Record: For WBS: 7-5-1-1 (16 pts., 5th place Atlantic Division) // For SPR: 7-3-0-2 (16 pts., 3rd place Atlantic Division)

Referee(s): Mitch Dunning / Beaudry Halkidis

Linesmen: Kyle Richetelle / Paul Simeon

Why You Should Care: Penguins are in a bit of uncharted territory here. They play a 10:30 a.m. weekday game against Springfield, capping off a five game road trip. How do they come out this morning? How do they start? What lineup changes are made? Springfield will be in the same boat, losing their last three straight games. Should be an interesting game to pay attention to this morning.`

Listen: Nick Hart on the call on WILK.

Watch: AHLTV is new and improved and a lot cheaper.

Other Game to Watch: Believe it or not but the Penguins and Thunderbirds aren’t the only AHL teams playing morning games today. Bridgeport travels north to Hartford today to take on the Wolf Pack. The Sound Tigers are hot and are second in the Atlantic.
