Last Game: Saturday in Syracuse, the Pens beat the Crunch 3-2. It was head coach John Hynes’ 116th career victory, good for tops among WBS head coaches. For Hershey, they lost 1-0 at home last Saturday vs. the Springfield Falcons.

Last Meeting: December 7 in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens lost in overtime 5-4. Benn Ferriero and Eric Tangrai both had a goal and an assist each, while Kevin marshall netted the game winner for the Bears.

Record: For WBS: 14-11-1-1 (30 pts., 3rd place East Division) For HER: 14-13-1-1 (30 pts., 4th place East Division)

Why you should care: Penguins come off the Christmas break with two games against their biggest division rival who are also tied with them in points. The Pens will need to play a sound sixty minutes in order to come away with the win tonight.

Last Game: Wednesday in Bingahmton, the Pens coughed up a 3-0 lead in the third period and lost 4-3. Bobby Farnham scored a goal. For Syracuse, the Crunch hosted the Adirondack Phantoms last night and lost in a shootout 4-3. Tyler Johnson had a goal and an assist.

Last Meeting: Last Saturday in Syracuse, the Pens were shut out by the Crunch 4-0.

Record: For WBS:  (13-11-1-1, 28 pts., 3rd place East Division) — For SYR: 17-6-1-3 (38 pts., 1st place East Division)

Why you should care: The losing streak continues for the Pens. Now six games. They are looking to break the streak against one of the top teams in the AHL.

Why you should care: The Pens have lost five straight. They travel to Bingahmton tonight against a team they have only scored two goals against all season. A tough task lies ahead.

Last Game: Last night at home the Pens lost to Binghamton 3-1. Trevor Smith scored the only goal for the Pens in the loss. Syracuse was in Glens Falls and won 3-0. Riku Helenius pitched a 21 save shutout in the Crunch victory.

Last Meeting: November 30 in Wilkes-Barre the Pens beat the Crunch 5-3. Riley Holzapfel had a goal and two assists and was named first star of the game.

Record: For WBS:  (13-9-1-1, 28 pts., 3rd place East Division) — For SYR: 16-6-1-2 (35 pts., 1st place East Division)

Why you should care: Pens looking to break out of this funk they are in. They seem to have Syracuse’s number this year although the Crunch remain a dangerous team. Pens need to play almost a perfect sixty minutes of hockey to be in it at the end.

Last Game: Wednesday in Albany, the Pens lost 6-3. Riley Holzapfel had a goal and an assist in the loss. For Binghamton they were in Syracuse Wednesday and lost 4-3. Mike Hoffman had two goals for the B-Sens in the defeat.

Last Meeting: November 7 in Wilkes-Barre it was a goaltender duel. The Pens won 1-0 by way of the shootout.

Record: For WBS: 13-8-1-1 (28 pts., 3rd place East Division) For BNG: 13-6-1-1 (28 pts., 2nd place East Division)

Why you should care: Pens are slipping, having not won in their last three games. Tasks don’t get any easier with Binghamton in town looking to break the points deadlock looking to get in the win column themselves, as the B-Sens have lost two straight.

Last Game: Saturday at home the Pens lost in a shootout 4-3 to the Portland Pirates. Riley Holzapfel had a goal. For Albany, they were in Hartford Sunday vs. the Whale and won 1-0. Joe Whitney had the only goal and Keith Kinkaid stopped all 30 shots faced.

Last Meeting: November 25 in Atlantic City at Boardwalk Hall, the Pens won 5-4 in a shootout. Brian Gibbons had a goal and two assists and was named first star of the game.

Record: For WBS: 13-7-1-1 (28 pts., 3rd place East Division) For ALB: 7-8-0-5 (19 pts., 5th place Northeast Division)

Why you should care: Penguins are in the Capital District of New York for a meeting against the Albany Devils. The Devils played the Pens tough last time. The Pens are coming off of a sort of a disappointing weekend. A date with division leaders Binghamton and Syracuse loom this weekend. The Pens cannot underestimate the Devils tonight.

Last Game: Last night vs. Hershey, the Pens lost 5-4 in overtime. Eric Tangradi scored his team leading 10th goal of the season in the OT loss. For Portland, they were in Binghamton last night and lost 6-1. Brendan Shinnimin had the lone goal for the Pirates in the loss.

Record: For WBS: 13-7-1-0 (27 pts., 3rd place East Division) For POR: 10-10-1-1 (22 pts., 5th place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: Both teams are coming off of tough losses last night. Each team will be looking to take advantage of the other. Also, Penguins head coach John Hynes is still searching for the win that puts him as the all time winningest coach in WBS Penguins history.
