RAPID RECAP – Pens WIN 5-4

You could call this one a trap game for the Penguins. A team that they should have beat they narrowly beat 5-4.

But that doesn’t happen with the Binghamton Senators. They always play us hard.

Danny Kristo broke out of his drought and scored two goals. Tom Sestito scored again and added an assist. No, you aren’t reading something from last night, that actually happened.

Doug Carr got the start in goal for Wilkes-Barre and won the game. I thought he played really well.

RAPID RECAP – Pens WIN 5-1

I made a dumb bet with myself before the game saying that if Tom Sestito scored two goals I’d join Snapchat.

Well, he did. And I’m on Snapchat under “nafsnep” now.

Pens win 5-1 against Hershey. Sestito scored twice, assisted on a Teddy Blueger goal :19 after his own, and the Pens roll to a 5-1 victory over rival Hershey.

Sestito completed his Gordie Howe hat trick with a fight with Tyler Lewington in the third period.

RAPID RECAP: Pens LOSE 5-2

Penguins seven game winning streak comes crashing down hard at the the hands of the Providence Bruins tonight, final score 5-2.

Providence dominated every facet, from even strength to their top rated penalty kill and even connected on the power play. It’s why they have only lost once in the month of December.

And no, Tristan Jarry would not have that much more of a difference tonight. DeSmith had no chance tonight because the team in front of him never game him one.

Goals by the Pens were scored by Josh Archibald and Oskar Sundqvist. Sundqvist’s came on the power play.

RAPID RECAP: Pens WIN 4-2

Five straight wins for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins as they cruise past the Springfield Thunderbirds tonight by a 4-2 score.

Pens used a big second period to ice the game away. After an own goal by the Penguins, the Thunderbirds put one in their own net and the Pens never looked back from there ending their second period with a power play goal by Garrett Wilson.

RAPID RECAP: Pens WIN 4-1

Wilkes-Barre wins its fourth straight with a 4-1 beating of the Rochester Americans.

In a game which was well decided goal wise, Casey DeSmith stole the show with a dazzling flurry of saves late in the second period while Rochester was on a power play. A sampling…

DeSmith stopped 26 of 27 and had a shutout until he was beat with 1:22 left to play.

Lukas Bengtsson scored his first North American goal tonight.

RAPID RECAP – Pens WIN 5-2

After trailing 2-0 against the Hershey Bears, it looked like another blowout loss to the bitter rivals.

Something didn’t exactly translate to Oskar Sundqvist.

Sundqvist ties a Wilkes-Barre franchise record with four goals, and the Penguins erase a 0-2 deficit and turn it into a 6-2 laugher.

Casey DeSmith was strong in net once the five guys in front of him started to skate.

RAPID RECAP: Pens LOSE 5-2

Totally embarrassing loss by the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins tonight. Boasting an extremely healthy roster loaded with talent top to bottom, the Penguins lay an egg and lose 5-2.

Pens weren’t in this one from the beginning, and it was a lifeless mess of a contest.

Tristan Jarry started and cannot be blamed for the loss. Bears are great in transition and every goal was a defensive breakdown.

Jake Guentzel picked up where he left off, chipping in a power play goal in the first and adding an assist.

But every time the Penguins got close and you thought the comeback was on, the Bears edged ahead again.

A total mess, from top to bottom.

More venting in a bit.
