RAPID RECAP: Pens WIN 1-0

It took them 18 games, but one of the best defensive teams in the AHL finally gets a shutout. A 24 save shutout by Tristan Jarry, a late power play goal with one second left in it and the Penguins are back to winning ways.

Tom Kostopoulos or J-S Dea scored the power play goal. House announced Kostopoulos, my eyes saw Dea.

On Dea, he was scratched last night and took the message to heart. He was everywhere tonight.

More later.

RAPID RECAP – Pens WIN 4-3

A big win tonight by the Penguins, who win 4-3 over the Sound Tigers. Bridgeport battled the Penguins tooth and nail but the Penguins were the better team in the end.

Big test passed by the Penguins tonight who never were able to put the Sound Tigers away, but were not overcome.

RAPID RECAP: Pens WIN 3-1

Needing a better performance after laying an egg last night, the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins come out and win this one tonight 3-1 against the Providence Bruins. A big performance by Casey DeSmith, and goals by Jake Guentzel, Oskar Sundqvist and J-S Dea and the Pens are back to, at least on this night, only allowing opponents to one goal a game.

RAPID RECAP: Pens LOSE 3-0

Toronto is as good as advertised.

A 3-0 throttling of the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins tonight at Mohegan Sun Arena. The Penguins kept the Marlies top line in check, but Kerby Rychel scored a pair and Frederick Gauthier added another.

The Penguins never got close. Antoine Bibeau picked up his third shutout of this young season.

Lots more to get to in a bit.

RAPID RECAP: Pens WIN 4-1

Tale of two games for the Penguins tonight.

They got run around in the first period. Tristan Jarry had a puck stolen from him and scored on him in the first.

Then, past half way in the second period, they came alive.

A goal by Jake Guentzel, followed up minutes later by Tom Kostopoulos’ 400th point in a Penguins sweater, and it was off to the races.

Pens would tack on two more and never look back.

Full recap in a bit.

RAPID RECAP – Pens WIN 3-1

Two shorthanded goals by Kevin Porter 1:19 apart and an assist on a Dominik Simon third period goal are enough for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins to get by the Syracuse Crunch 3-1 with a new look lineup.

More on the blog in a bit.

RAPID RECAP – Pens LOSE 1-0

A seemingly harmless turnaround shot by Ryan Horvat in the first period of this game somehow eludes Tristan Jarry to give the Thunderbirds a 1-0 lead, and the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins can’t get any quality shots at Springfield goaltender Reto Berra and lose 1-0.

Shots were 23-23. Springfield must have blocked double that. Berra was good when he needed to be, but Jarry was better. I know that doesn’t make sense because he took the loss but he kept his team in the game, they just could not do anything for him in the offensive category.

Full work up in a bit.
