RAPID RECAP: Pens LOSE 3-1

The lede for this one is simple. If you don’t execute, you don’t win. Penguins have a boatload of talent on the team and got stronger with the addition of Bryan Rust tonight but did not score a single power play goal against the Phantoms penalty kill ranked in the bottom third in the AHL. They lost tonight at home for the first time all season by a score of 3-1. The ten game home streak is over.

The Phantoms did score a power play goal and took advantage of a defensive breakdown in the second period for a lead they would never relinquish. Phantoms goaltender Anthony Stolarz, all 6’6 of him was outstanding, stopping 35 of 36 shots.

Full recap to follow in a bit.

RAPID RECAP: Pens WIN 3-2

That’s ten wins in a row for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins as they defeat the Hershey Bears by a 3-2 score tonight.

Game got close as the Bears got a late goal in the second and an early one in the third but the Penguins had two power plays, a double minor and a regular one to kill whatever momentum the Bears were building.

All of the scoring for the Pens came in the second as Kevin Porter, Niclas Andersen and J-S Dea scored goals. Dea’s came on the power play.

Tristan Jarry started for the Pens and remains undefeated as a professional.

RAPID RECAP: Pens WIN 3-0

The ninth consecutive win on home ice is a record for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins as they blank the Providence Bruins 3-0 tonight. Matt Murray collected a 29 save shutout for the win.

Goals scored in each period. One by Conor Sheary in the first, Kael Mouillierat on a power play in the second and Dominik Simon in the third.

This was probably the most methodical game I’ve seen in some time from my seat.

RAPID RECAP: Pens WIN 4-3 (OT)

Looked like a replay of last Friday when the Penguins came up here and thrower a ton of shots at the B-Sens net but couldn’t score.

Binghamton scores on two power play goals to even the game at two a piece after the Penguins opened up a 2-0 lead in the games first 2:43 and then take a lead in the third period, but the Penguins storm back to tie on a Dominik Simon goal late then a Derrick Pouliot winner in the three on three overtime.

Lots more to get to when I get home for the full recap which should be up before midnight.

RAPID RECAP – Pens WIN 3-1

The Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins have won their tenth consecutive hockey game by a final score of 3-1 over the Rochester Americans. It’s a franchise record. The Pens dominated the Americans in every aspect tonight. J-S Dea, Dave Warsofsky and Oskar Sundqvist all scored for the Pens. Tristan Jarry started the game but lost the shutout bid with 18.7 seconds to play.

More to follow in a bit.

RAPID RECAP — Pens WIN 7-0

Matt Murray’s second shutout of the season is going to be the second or third footnote of this game, a 7-0 dismantling of the Hershey Bears tonight. Wilkes-Barre connected for three power play goals and shut down the Bears from the jump.

RAPID RECAP – Pens WIN 4-1

Three goals late in the the third period in the span of 2:23 lift the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins to a 4-1 win over the St. John’s IceCaps.

Much closer game than the shoreline would indicate. Pens fell behind 1-0 in the first then used their league best power play to tie the game in the second. Holding St. John’s to under ten shots in the final two periods aided when the offense finally roared to life to carry the Pens to the win.
