Thursday Links and Help Wanted

Couple things to get to today:

First, the Andrew Hutchinson update from Bombulie today. If you want to call it that. JB also had an extended piece on the Binghamton Senators. It is worth your effort to click here to be taken over to it.

Excellent piece on Denis Hamel from AHL observer Patrick Williams in his weekly Thursday “Around the AHL” report at The Hockey News.

This next piece had me all riled up over on Twitter this afternoon. It’s about November Goaltender of the Month Jake Allen of the Peoria Rivermen. The headline reads, “Allen taking AHL shooters to school.” My gripe isn’t anything related to the article itself, it is quite astonishing that this rookie has only allowed 11 goals on 290 shots, but rather to the context of the headline encompassing “AHL Shooters” and just throwing a blanket over the entire 30 team league. Would it be the same for Allen and the Rivermen if they had to travel east to say, five or six of maybe the teams in the East Division alone? My guess is probably not. Again, not taking anything away from Allen, just saying that the headline would read better if “Western Conference” was added someplace.

Okay. I need your help if you are a Bears fan. I have my tickets to the AHL Skills Competition and the All-Star Classic in Hershey on January 30 and 31, 2011 already. What I don’t have is tickets to the Hall of Fame induction and Post Skills Party. These go on sale Saturday after the Bears game Saturday night vs. Binghamton. If you are in Hershey on Saturday night and purchasing tickets already, can you get me a ticket? I will pay you for it. If you would be willing to do this for me, send me an e-mail, nafnsep@gmail.com so we can arrange a plan.

Binghamton in town tomorrow for the final time. Gameday post will publish tomorrow at 4 p.m.

Let’s Go Pens!
