Chirps from Center Ice

A fan blog about the AHL's Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins

Check Yourself

In the one game I was watching this Sunday afternoon, the Hershey Bears were shutout on home ice for the first time since 2009 by the Charlotte Checkers by a score of 5-0.

Wilkes-Barre and Hershey have now played 57 games apiece. Charlotte has played 58. Wilkes-Barre still has a 10 point cushion on the East Division lead.

Meanwhile, the Binghamton Senators are for real. Sixth overall in the Eastern Conference and 7-2-1-0 in their last ten and points in their last 8 games (7-0-1-0). The B-Sens are four points behind the Charlotte Checkers. They host the Penguins Wednesday in Binghamton. I have a feeling that I am walking into a hornets nest on Wednesday at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. It’s going to be a fun game to watch, that is for sure.

Let’s Go Pens!
