The body doesn’t support the headline until you get to the second to last paragraph. Plus, I have used “Thursday Potpourri” as a headline at least twice before. I like to recycle cans, not blog headlines.
Anyway. Moving on.
— Penguins signed a kid by the name of Clark Seymour to an ATO today. He’s a defenseman and a 2012 draft pick by Pittsburgh. In four years in the OHL he was 7-27-34. Those numbers aren’t that impressive, but I don’t know anything about the kid. From the things I linked into on him when he was drafted, it sounds like he’s a gritty defenseman that isn’t afraid to fight. I don’t think that Wilkes-Barre, who is jockeying for playoff seeding, gives him any game action at least in the short term. If, say in the last week of the season with playoff seeding already decided, he may get a game or two. For more Seymour and the topics of ATOs, may I suggest Jonathan Bombulie’s blog entry from this afternoon.
— Getting back to last night’s game, the theme was that that the third and fourth lines for the Pens generated all the offensive chances. So I went back to the boxscore and checked shots. Seven from the defensemen. Only one from the top line or Holzapfel – Smith – Thompson. Six from the second line or Collins – Megna – Gibbons. Five from Uher – Peters and Payerl and one from Bobby Farnham on the fourth line. I don’t know what to make out of this other than it’s a unit that struggles offensively which is overstating the obvious if you have watched this team since October.
— In a classic example of burying the headline, I am planning an “East Division Summit” with other East Division bloggers from Syracuse, Binghamton, Hershey and Norfolk, querying each on the prospects for their teams future success this season. I e-mailed them all my questions earlier today and expect to have that as a blog piece for the first part of next week.
Penguins have off tomorrow, so if there isn’t any huge breaking news or tidbit worthy information worth blogging about, expect the next entry here Saturday afternoon for the Gameday setup vs. Norfolk.
