AHL Power Rankings: Week 6

Let’s get some housekeeping out of the way real quick. Due to American Thanksgiving on next Thursday, the Chirps from Center Ice AHL Power Rankings will be moved up one day. Look for them here on the blog on Wednesday, November 21.

On to this weeks Rankings. There is a new number one team this week for the first time all season. Rochester replaces Charlotte as the Amerks and Checkers swap spots this week.

Tucson, after a slip up a few weeks ago with Colorado, move to number three this week after a pair of shutout wins over Pacific Division leading San Jose.

Iowa moves up one and Lehigh Valley round out the top five. After the Phantoms, hit the jump if you didn’t link in direct to see where all the other teams filled out this week.

This Week: @ UTI 11/16, vs. LAV 11/17
Record: 6-5-1-0

20

Last Week: SPR 2 @ HER 3, HER 2 @ SYR 7
What does it say about Hershey when they beat a good Springfield team clean then go to Syracuse and are obliterated by a wholesomely average Syracuse team that scores four power play goals against them?

Record: 7-8-0-1

21

Last Week: HFD 3 @ UTI 4 (SO), WBS 4 @ HFD 1, BRI 3 @ HFD 4 (OT)
3 of 6 for the Wolf Pack for the week. Not bad, better than most, but with how tight things are in the Division probably to good enough on the long term.

Record: 6-8-1-2

22

Last Week: ONT 1 @ STK 5, STK 1 @ ONT 4, STK 5 @ COL 4 (OT), STK 4 @ COL 2

Record: 5-4-1-1

24

Last Week: TOR 6 @ BEL 7, TOR 8 @ BEL 2, UTI 4 @ BEL 5 (SO)

Record: 7-8-0-0

25

Last Week: LAV 5 @ CLE 1, LAV 2 @ CLE 4, TOR 2 @ LAV 6

3 of 6 out of the week is OK, but that has Utica in fifth in the North as opposed to tied for second had they got all six points.

Record: 6-8-1-1

29

Last Week: SA 1 @ TEX 8, TEX 4 @ SA 2, MTB 0 @ SA 5

Record: 4-12-0-0

30

Last Week: TOR 6 @ BEL 7, TOR 8 @ BEL 2, TOR 2 @ LAV 6
Reverse of fortunes for Toronto who sit last in the North as we hit mid-November. Are these next three games really winnable for the Marlies?

-14

This Week: @ BEL 11/16, vs. BNG 11/17, vs. BNG 11/18
Record: 5-6-0-2

31

Last Week: SA 1 @ TEX 8, TEX 4 @ SA 2, MTB 5 @ TEX 4
Split a series with a bad Rampage team and then lost to the Moose. For a team playing from behind, that’s not good enough right now. One game this week with Rockford.

-4

This Week: vs. RFD 11/16
Record: 6-6-1-1

Have a great week everyone!
