GAMEDAY: vs. Lehigh Valley 3/8

vs. 

Who: Lehigh Valley Phantoms

Where: Mohegan Sun Arena

When: 5:00 p.m.

Last Game: Saturday in Newark, the Penguins roared past the Binghamton Devils 6-3. Cam Lee had three assists. Jon Gruden had a goal and an assist. The Pens outshot the Devils 41-19 in the contest. For Lehigh Valley, the Phantoms were beaten by the Hershey Bears Saturday 4-1. Chris Mueller scored for the Phantroms in the loss.

Last Meeting: February 27 in Allentown, the Penguins beat the Phantoms 5-4 in overtime. Frederick Gaudreau’s goal in overtime for the Penguins concluded a back and forth affair by the teams.

Record: For WBS: 5-2-1-1 (12 pts.) — For LV: 5-2-2-0 (12 pts.)

Why You Should Care: Doesn’t seem to be much that can faze this Penguins team right now. Go down by three Saturday, rip off six of your own and win in dominating fashion. Both teams have pretty identical records and it is always fun when these to teams meet.

Where: RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House in Newark, NJ

When: 7:00 p.m.

Last Game: This past Wednesday at home against Syracuse, the Penguins lost 2-1 in a shootout. Jon Lizotte had a goal. For Binghamton, they played last Saturday in Hershey and were shutout 3-0.

Last Meeting: In the first game of the season on February 8, the Penguins lost 4-3 in overtime. Cam Lee had a pair of assists for the Penguins but it was Reilly Walsh whop scored in overtime for the Devils to give them the win.

Record: For WBS: 4-2-1-1 (10 pts.) — For BNG: 2-4-1-1 (6 pts.)

Last Game: This past Saturday in Allentown, the Penguins won 5-4 in a back and forth affair. Frederick Gaudreau’s goal in overtime gave the Penguins a six point week. For Syracuse, the Crunch were home this past Monday against Rochester and won 4-3. Otto Somppi had a goal and an assist.

Last Meeting: February 13 in Syracuse, the Penguins won 5-4. Will Reilly, Chase Berger and Kyle Olson each scored a goal and assisted on another.

Record: For WBS: 4-2-1-0 (9 pts.) — For SYR: 2-4-1-0 (5 pts.)

Why You Should Care: First time this season that these rivals meet. Always a measuring stick, always competitive and depending on what side you are on, always fun. The Pens dealt the Bears their first regulation loss on Wednesday, can they do the same for the Phantoms tonight?

Who: Hershey Bears

When: 1:00 p.m.

Last Game: Last Saturday up in Syracuse, the Pens won a wild one 5-4. Chase Berger and Kyle Olson had a goal and an assist each, Emil Larmi stopped 29 shots. For Hershey, the Bears were in Newark, NJ playing the Binghamton Devils on Wednesday and won 2-1. Damien Riat had the go ahead goal halfway through the third for the Bears and Ilya Samsonov turned away 22 shots. The Bears had 43 total shots in the contest.

Last Meeting: Thursday, February 11 in Wilkes-Barre the Pens lost 3-2. Tied contest heading into the third period, the Pens take three penalties and the Bears cash on one of them and win.

Record: For WBS: 1-1-1-0 (3 pts.) — For HER: 2-0-2-0 (6 pts.)

Why You Should Care: If the last meeting between these two and the last game Hershey played is any indication, expect another tight contest this afternoon in Hershey. Pens have to stay disciplined against Hershey if they want to win.
