Last Game: Sunday in Hartford, Casey Desmith got the start in goal for the Penguins and won 3-2 with a 22 save performance. The Pens scored their three goals in the span of 68 seconds. For Binghamton, they last played Saturday in Hershey and coughed up a 5-1 lead and lost 6-5 in overtime. Buddy Robinson had a goal and two assists.

Last Meeting: November 25 in Binghamton, the Penguins won 4-3 in overtime. Derrick Pouliot scored the overtime game winner.

Record: For WBS: 23-8-0-1 (47 pts., 1st place Atlantic Division) — For BNG: 11-17-3-0 (25 pts., 7th place North Division)

Why you should care: The B-Sens have been playing above what their last place in the North position would indicate, winning five of their last six games. The Penguins will need a full 60 minute effort to get out of this one with the two points.

Last Game: Last night at home versus Springfield, the Penguins won 4-1. It was Clark Donatello’s first AHL coaching win. For Hartford, they lost 4-3 to Albany at home. Chad Nehring had a goal and an assist in the loss.

Last Meeting: December 5 in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens lost 3-1. Magnus Hellberg stopped 28 of 29 shots to earn first star honors.

Why you should care: The Penguins are going to be without the services of Matt Murray today, fresh from re-assignment from Pittsburgh and given a much needed rest. How will the Penguins play with either Casey DeSmith or Brian Foster in net this afternoon?

Last Game: New Years Eve at home against the Syracuse Crunch, the Pens lost 4-2. Wilkes-Barre struck twice on the power play. For Springfield, they hosted Bridgeport Friday and won 2-1. The win snapped a three game losing streak for the Falcons. Marek Langenhamer picked up his first AHL win stopping 23 of 24 shots.

Last Meeting: October 24 in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens beat the Falcons 3-2 in overtime. Dominik Simon scored the game winning goal :36 into overtime.

Record: For WBS: 21-8-0-1 (43 pts., 1st place Atlantic Division) — For SPR: 13-17-1-1 (28 pts., 8th place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: The slumping Penguins host the perpetually slumping Springfield Falcons tonight. A few weeks ago, this is probably a game that the Penguins sleepwalk through and win 4-1. Tonight almost has a feel that the Penguins will need to be perfect in every aspect in order to win.

Last Game: Sunday at home vs the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Penguins were shutout for their second consecutive game by a score of 3-0. For Syracuse, they were in Hershey Tuesday and won 3-1. Tye McGinn had a pair of goals in the win.

Last Meeting: December 19 in Syracuse, the Penguins won 3-0. Brian Foster collected his first AHL shutout with 30 saves.

Record: For WBS: 21-7-0-1 (43 pts., 1st place Atlantic Division) — For SYR: 13-12-4-1 (31 pts., 5th place North Division)

Why you should care: When the Penguins were coming off a bad loss to Toronto the night before, the cure for what ailed the Penguins was in the form of the Syracuse Crunch. It’s the Crunch again tonight. Is that enough to get the Pens back on track? Hardly. Wilkes-Barre will need to play a full 60 minutes and get contributions from everyone in every situation if they want to be successful tonight.

Last Game: Last night in Hershey the Penguins were shutout 5-0…For Lehigh Valley, they hosted Bridgeport and lost 2-1. Robert Hagg scored the only goal in the loss for the Phantoms.

Last Meeting: December 16 in Allentown, the Pens won 3-0. Tristan Jarry collected a 17 save shutout.

Record: For WBS: 21-6-0-1 (43 pts., 1st place Atlantic Division) — For LV: 14-16-1-0 (29 pts., 5th place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: The Penguins need a better showing today against a Lehigh Valley team coming off a loss last night themselves. Whether they have shaken the funk of whatever you want to call last nights performance against Hershey remains to be seen.

Last Game: Saturday in Syracuse, the Penguins won 3-0. It was the first AHL shutout for Brian Foster as well as the fourth overall for the Penguins in the last five games. For Hershey, they hosted the Crunch on Sunday and beat them in overtime 5-4. The Bears had to dig out of a 3-0 hole in the first period and got the game winning goal from Sean Collins in overtime. Collins also had a third period goal.

Last Meeting: December 6 in Hershey, the Bears won 4-1. Tim Erixon had the only goal for the Penguins in the loss.

Record: For WBS: 21-5-0-1 (43 pts., 1st place Atlantic Division) — For HER: 15-8-1-5 (36 pts., 2nd place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: The Clark Donatelli Era begins tonight in Hershey against the Penguins biggest rival, the Hershey Bears. Because of the Christmas holiday, expect the Penguins to keep things simple under Donatelli because he hasn’t been able to run them through a full practice yet.

Last Game: Last night at home the Penguins lost 4-3 to the Toronto Marlies. The Pens gave up three shorthanded goals in the third period. For Syracuse, the Crunch won at home last night 4-0 against the Binghamton Senators. Andrei Vasilevskiy was named the first star of the game with a 27 save shutout.

Last Meeting: December 9 in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens won 6-2. Dominik Simon had two goals.

Record: For WBS: 20-5-0-1 (41 pts., 1st place Atlantic Division) — For SYR: 11-10-3-1 (26 pts., 5th place North Division)

Why you should care: The Penguins want to quickly wash off that bad shootout loss to Toronto with a strong showing tonight in Syracuse. They are still without the services of Tristan Jarry so it will likely be Brian Foster again tonight for Wilkes-Barre and he will be looking to also get in the win column for the Pens in a game he was likely scheduled to play in anyway with the recall of Matt Murray to Pittsburgh.
