Last Game: Sunday in Hershey, the Penguins surged to a 2-0 lead over the Bears but lost 3-2. Jayson Megna had both goals for Wilkes-Barre in the loss. For Portland, they were in Providence on Sunday and lost 3-2 also. Brendan Shinnimin had a goal in the loss for the Pirates and was named third star of the game.

Record: For WBS: 9-7-1-0 (19 pts., 1st place East Division) — For POR: 8-8-0-0 (16 pts., 4th place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: Wilkes-Barre comes into the new week at home against a Pirates team which has been struggling of late, winning two of their last five contests. The Penguins by their own admission beat themselves this past weekend with losses to Syracuse and Hershey. They will need a full 60 minute effort if they want to beat the Pirates tonight.

Last Game: Last night at home vs. the Crunch, the Pens lost 3-2. The Penguins were up 2-0 but Syracuse scored three unanswered goals and won the game…. For Hershey, they suffered a similar fate to the Crunch Friday. The Bears were up 1-0 and then the Crunch scored five unanswered goals and won 5-1.

Last Meeting: November 7 in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens won in overtime 3-2. Jayson Megna scored the game winning goal at 1:01 in overtime to win.

Record: For WBS: 9-6-1-0 (19 pts., 1st place East Division) — For HER: 7-6-1-0 (15 pts., 2nd place East Division)

Why you should care: The Bears come into this contest rested and ready for their biggest rival. Hershey can’t catch the Penguins for the Division lead today, but they can put a dent in it with a win and with the fact that the Bears have two games in hand on the Penguins coming into today.

Last Game: Last night vs. the Phantoms, the Pens won 3-1. Jeff Zatkoff stopped 21 of 22 shots. For Syracuse, the Crunch scored five unanswered goals to defeat the Hershey Bears 5-1. Mike Angelidis had a goal and an assist and was named the first star of the game.

Record: For WBS: 9-5-1-0 (19 pts., 1st place East Division) — For SYR: 7-4-2-0 (17 pts., 4th place Northeast Division)

Why you should care: This Crunch team is light years better than its record and place indicate at this juncture. For the Penguins to win they will need a complete game, most likely.

Last Game: Sunday at home vs. Syracuse, the Pens won in overtime, 5-4. J-S Dea had the overtime game winning goal and Beau Bennett had four assists. For Lehigh Valley, they were in Portland last Saturday and were shutout by the Pirates 3-0.

Last Meeting: October 29 in Allentown, the Pens won in overtime 2-1. J-S Dea had the game winning goal in that game too.

Record: For WBS: 8-5-1-0 (17 pts., 1st place East Division) — For LV: 5-5-1-0 (11 pts., 3rd place East Division)

Why you should care: Two teams on two different trends Friday night in Wilkes-Barre. The Pens have won three in a row and are at the top of the East Division. The Phantoms have lost five of their last six. But you know when the puck drops at 7:05, none of this will matter between the two teams.

Last Game: Last night in Binghamton, the Pens won 6-4. Bryan Rust had two goals and was named first star of the game…. For Syracuse, they hosted Norfolk last night and despite being down 4-1 to the Admirals, won 5-4. Yanni Gourde and Dalton Smith had two goals each for Syracuse.

Record: For WBS: 7-5-1-0 (15 pts., 2nd place East Division) — For SYR: 5-4-2-0 (12 pts., 5th place Northeast Division)

Why you should care: Syracuse comes calling this afternoon on a recent losing skid despite last nights comeback win. However, the Penguins cannot underestimate this Crunch team or else they can lose.

Why you should care: Pens travel to Binghamton tonight to face a Binghamton team that is better than their record and place in the division show. Coming off of an emotional, hard fought win last night versus rival Hershey, the Pens must continue to play disciplined, sound hockey if they want to have success vs. Binghamton tonight.

Last Game: Last Saturday in Norfolk, the Penguins lost 2-1. Conor Sheary scored the only goal for the Penguins in the loss. For Hershey, they were in Manchester Sunday and lost 3-1. Kris Newbury scored the only goal for the Bears in the loss.

Record: For WBS: 5-5-1-0 (11 pts., 2nd place East Division) — For HER: 6-4-0-0 (12 pts., 1st place East Division)

Why you should care: Pens get the Bears at home for the first time this season. This game is for first place in the East Division. While yes, it is November, tonight’s game may go a ways in telling which team may have the best chance at staying at the top of the division into December, January and beyond.
