Last Game: Last night at home, the Pens beat the Portland Pirates 5-1. Andrew Ebbett scored two goals in the third period and was named first star of the game. For Adirondack, the Phantoms were in Hartford Tuesday and lost 4-1. Tye McGinn scored the only goal for the Phantoms in the loss.

Last Meeting: January 10 in Glens Falls, the Pens won 4-1. Tom Kostopoulos had two goals and an assist and was named first star of the game.

Record: For WBS: 27-16-1-3 (58 pts., 2nd place East Division) — For ADK: 22-21-0-2 (46 pts., 3rd place Northeast Division)

Why you should care: It’s the last time the Penguins see the Phantoms this year in regular season and it’s sure to be a physical battle. Next time we see the Phantoms in a regular season contest they will bear the name Lehigh Valley Phantoms and be a divisional foe, most likely.

Last Game: Wednesday at home vs. Syracuse, the Penguins won 4-0. Eric Hartzell had a 20 save shutout. Denver Manderson scored his first AHL goal. For Norfolk, they were supposed to play the Charlotte Checkers at home Tuesday but were postponed due to weather, so the Admirals last game was last Saturday at home vs. the Penguins, a 2-1 shootout loss.

Last Meeting: January 25 in Norfolk, the Pens won 2-1. Tom Kuhnhackl scored in the top of the eighth round of the shootout to win it for the Penguins.

Record: For WBS: 26-14-1-3 (56 pts., 2nd place East Division) — For NOR: 22-13-1-7 (52 pts., 3rd place East Division)

Why you should care: Norfolk pretty much owns the Mohegan Sun Arena, having tremendous success in the home of the Penguins. The Pens will need to defend home ice and play a solid 60 minute game against the rival Admirals in order to take the two points home with them tonight.

Who: Norfolk Admirals

Last Game / Last Meeting: In a game which will be remembered for the fight between goaltenders John Gibson and Jeff Deslauriers, the Pens lost 4-1. Zach Sill scored the only goal for Wilkes-Barre in the loss.

Record: For WBS: 24-13-1-3 (52 pts., 2nd place East Division) — For NOR: 22-13-1-6 (51 pts., 3rd place East Division)

Why you should care: Probably the most important game of the season for both teams. The Penguins don’t want to look up at the Norfolk Admirals in the standings at any point during the year, and the Admirals have a golden opportunity to catch and pass Wilkes-Barre and set their sights on the division leading Binghamton Senators.
