RAPID RECAP: Pens LOSE 3-2

Close tonight but no cigar as the Penguins lose 3-2 to Hershey in John Muse’s Penguins debut. Pens got a late goal from Kevin Czuczman to make it interesting in the final minute but it was too little too late.

Only solace I guess you can take is that Lehigh Valley is losing, Bridgeport and Springfield also lost or are at the time of this writing.

More later.

RAPID RECAP – Pens LOSE 6-5 (OT)

A point against the best team in the AHL is going to feel like no consolation for a Penguin team that had the Charlotte Checkers on the ropes down 4-1.

Charlotte scores four unanswered to take a 5-4 lead, Anthony Angello scores late to force overtime but the Penguins never possessed the puck in overtime and lose 6-5.

RAPID RECAP – Pens LOSE 2-1

Special teams carried the tune tonight. Penguins could not score on it, Charlotte did, twice. They win 2-1.

Pretty even game otherwise, shots were 28-28.

RAPID RECAP – Pens LOSE 3-2

Hartford is a good team that is well coached. Keith McCambridge always has the same look on his face but is a great coach. His pieces don’t always execute with the Wolf Pack’s recent history, but when they do click, Hartford is a hard team to beat.

3-2 Penguin loss tonight to the Wolf Pack. More special teams trouble for Wilkes-Barre, who give up a first period power play goal. But they claw back to within one, outshoot the Wolf Pack 37-24 but never found the equalizer.

RAPID RECAP – Pens WIN 5-3

Bit of a wild, back and forth affair tonight here in Wilkes-Barre. A 5-3 Penguins win over the Hartford Wolf Pack.

After four goals in the games first 10:50, no scoring in the second period. But in the third, the Penguins put the Wolf Pack away with two quick goals, including a highlight reel one from Sam Lafferty, a hit by the returning Ryan Haggerty and a fight.

Tristan Jarry nearly scored a goal, more on that and the rest of the game in a bit.

RAPID RECAP – Pens WIN 4-1

Pretty full lineup for Hershey tonight but Tristan Jarry had that look in his eye tonight. Jarry stops 27, Adam Johnson scores twice, Penguins beat Hershey 4-1. These teams rematch tomorrow in Hershey.

RAPID RECAP – Pens LOSE 6-3

In a game that did not feature a single Penguin power play, the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead and looked to start running all over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Sam Miletic scores two quick goals and the Penguins put up 20 shots on goal.

But a relentless effort from the visiting team, where they score two power play goals in :16 (two separate power plays, obviously) and what set up as a rout for the home team quickly turned on them and the Phantoms go on to win 6-3.
