Season Ticket Holder Wrap-Up 9/25

All is good in the world. Why? I have my tickets for the 2010-2011 Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins upcoming season. I also took in the first day of practice. I had no idea what I was looking at. I never played hockey (I can’t even skate) and this was the first time live I ever got to witness an actual hockey practice.

The one thing which was not answered was about the December 30 game in Pittsburgh vs. Hershey. Inside of my ticket book are tickets for 39 home games and a voucher for another home game or a playoff game. The vibe I caught was that no one wearing Pens golf shirts  today had any idea on the when / where / how / what regarding ticket information. Which leads me to believe this is all controlled by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Rightfully so I assume since it is their arena. I am not going to worry / complain / rant about it for this simple reason: I’m either going or I’m not going. It’s that simple.

I did take some pictures of the tickets, after the jump:

Smell the flowers…

So I am down my aunts in New Jersey visiting with some family. My aunt is an established gardener.

I figure I can try out the WordPress app for my iPhone 4 with some pictures. I’m going to be using the phone a lot to live tweet WBS games. I may, from the road try to blog as well when my laptop isn’t on.

After the jump you will see some of the pictures I snapped outside of my aunts flower garden.

Depth Charges…

JB* must still be on vacation. He is one of the best in the business so I’m not going to complain there is no blog post on the today’s WBS news.

Wilkes-Barre / Scranton signed Jason DeSantis to a one-year deal. Impeccable analysis from Eric P over at the Wilkes-Blog here.

Meanwhile, Norfolk is completely loading up. Today they signed LW Sean Bergenheim. They may have moved out of dark horse mode and straight-on putting the East Division on notice that they are going to contend. I mentioned yesterday that they could finish as high as second, so I put it out on Twitter to Hershey Bears play-by-play man John Walton, and his response can be found here.**

(I love to link, in case you haven’t noticed. Blame Mike Fornabaio and his style)

Outside of hockey, I am the proud owner of a 2010 Ford F-150 XLT. Photos of my new rig can be found here, here and here.

*= JB is short for WBS beat writer Jonathan Bombulie.

**= Yes, I do tweet with people from Hershey. Don’t judge.

Stay tuned…

There is absolutely NOTHING going on hockey-wise these days. What is news you probably have seen already and will set us up nicely here at Chirps from Center Ice for blog fodder in the coming weeks.

The AHL tweeted Friday that the schedule is near done. I’m interested in whether I am going to Canada this year or next.

Pensfest is this Friday. I cannot attend since I am attending a wedding. Not my own. I bought a suit. First time in years I’ll be wearing one (we do business casual at work). Will probably put some pictures of me in this suit sometime this week. I need a haircut.

Binghamton needs a beat writer. If I had an English degree and watched hockey longer I would probably apply.

Like I said, NOTHING going on. Stay tuned!

Why you should follow me on Twitter

I live tweet all the games. From who the referee and linesmen are for any particular game to the starting goaltenders for each team to the penalties, scores, shots on goal at the end of each period. I also do in-game analysis from my view and retweet a @CVBombulie or anyone else who may be at the game doing the same. I live tweet all the games, not just a few, all the games.

You also will get live tweets of the booster club dinners where the players are and twitpics of the players and I. 95% of the twitter feed is dedicated to the WBS Pens, and all things affecting them directly or indirectly plus the trials and tribulations of me.

So do me a favor, if you have a Twitter account, click follow, and enjoy the ride!

(P.S. If you are spam, or smell of spam, I block you)

Now that we have established that…

Expect me to drop the following posts on you in the next few days:

1) Why you should follow me on Twitter.

2) Who you need to follow on Twitter as a serious hockey fan.

3) Essential blogs you need to read because these guys know what they are talking about unlike me.

4) Why “baby” should never be used when describing the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins.

5) AHL geekery (you are going to get a ton of this, so be prepared)

When 140 characters are not enough…

Anyone who knows me knows that outside of my Twitter feed, I don’t care to mess around much in the world wide interwebs. I am anti-Facebook. I am anti-anything blog-wise or otherwise if it doesn’t pay you money for doing it.

Anyone can blog. Anyone can put stuff up on the internet.

That said, I have been told that I should start a Facebook page or at least write for a blog. Thing is, I have a full-time job in the private sector. It doesn’t involve tweeting, facebooking or anything like that.

However I am obsessed with hockey. Minor league hockey. AHL hockey. Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins Hockey. So much so that I have Center Ice tickets and live tweet all the games. I spend a ton of money chasing the WBS Penguins all over the place. People on my twitter feed (twitter.com/nafsnep) want me to expand my role outside of just the Twitter feed. Here it is. The blog.

Be advised of the following: 1) I never played hockey 2) I am not an English major 3) I am not affiliated with the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins. 4) You will likely find me at the Twitter feed a heck of a lot more than you will find me here.

That all said, I sincerely hope you all enjoy this. Please follow me on Twitter if you are a WBS Pens fan or a Pittsburgh Penguin fan in general.
