Last Game: Last night in Providence, the Pens won in a shootout 3-2. The Geoff Walker, Ben Street and Nick Petersen was dynamite, going a combined 2-4-6 and a +6. For the Sound Tigers, they were in Hartford last night and lost in a shootout 3-2. Michael Haley had two goals and was the second star of the game.

Last Meeting: December 31 in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens won 4-2. Zach Sill had two goals and was the first star of the game.

Record: For WBS: 34-19-2-5 (75 pts., 2nd place East Division) For BRI: 32-19-3-4 (71 pts., 1st place Northeast Division)

Why you should care: The last time these two teams met, the Sound Tigers were in the bottom five out of the thirty team AHL. Since, they simply have been on a tear. They have rocketed through the standings and are arguably the hottest team in the AHL right now. Tonight’s game will not be easy for the Pens. They will need a focused effort to get a point tonight and a solid effort to get two points.

Last Game: This past Tuesday the Pens lost at home to the St. John’s IceCaps. Matt Rust and Simon Despres had goals for the Pens in the loss. For Providence, this past Sunday at home they lost to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 6-3. David Warsofsky had two goals and was named third star of the game.

Record: For WBS: 33-19-2-5 (73 pts., 2nd place East Division) For PRO: 26-28-3-3 (58 pts., 5th place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: The Penguins start the first game of a three in three this weekend in Providence. The Pens on the road are a very good team. I would anticipate a strong effort from the Penguins looking to getting back in the win column and getting this road trip started off right.

Last Game: This past Sunday, the Pens came back in the third period in Glens Falls and beat the Adirondack Phantoms 3-2. Paul Thompson and Brandon DeFazio had the goals within :20 of one another. For St. John’s they were in Binghamton and won 5-2. Patrice Cormier had a goal, assist and was +1 and was named first star of the game.

Last Meeting: January 15 in St. John’s, the Pens won in overtime 4-3. Ben Street netted the game winner.

Record: For WBS: 33-18-2-5 (73 pts., 2nd place East Division) — For StJ: 34-15-5-2 (75 pts., 1st place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: The St. John’s IceCaps have lost only five games on the road this season, which is fewest in the AHL this season. The Pens are only 12-12-2-2 at home. If the Pens do not play a sound game tonight against a very stout St. John’s team they will lose out on gaining on idle Norfolk.

Last Game: Sunday at home vs. the Norfolk Admirals, the Pens lost 3-2. Alex Picard had a goal in the loss and was named the second star of the game. For the Phantoms, last night in Albany they won in overtime 3-2. Ex-Hershey Bear Matt Ford netted the game winner in overtime.

Record: For WBS: 32-18-2-5 (71 pts., 2nd place East Division) — For ADK: 28-26-2-1 (59 pts., 4th place Northeast Division)

Why you should care: The Penguins play just once this weekend and should be the more rested team looking to jump on what should be a tired Phantoms team coming off of two road games Friday and Saturday. The Pens need this game to keep pace with the rest of the division.

Last Game: Last night at home vs. Syracuse, the Pens lost 2-1. Ryan Craig had the only goal for the Pens in the loss. For Norfolk, they were in Hershey last night and won 4-3. Newcomer Brandon Segal had two goals in the win.

Last Meeting: February 15 in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens were shutout 4-0. Dustin Tokarski had the 24 save shutout and was named the games first star.

Record: For WBS: 32-17-2-5 (71 pts., 2nd place East Division) — For NOR: 35-18-1-2 (73 pts., 1st place East Division)

Why you should care: The Admnirals are the hottest team in the league right now. Hands down. It’s not going to be easy today for the Pens whom will likely start Patrick Killeen in net with last nights injury to Scott Munroe. Stop Norfolk, and this puts the league on notice that the Pens, with an ECHL goalie in net can run with anyone.
