Last Game: Last night in Hartford, the Pens won 2-1 in a shootout. Paul Thompson scored for the Penguins in the bottom of the sixth round. For Manchester, the Monarchs were in Binghamton last night and lost 5-4 in overtime. Tanner Pearson had a goal and an assist and was named third star of the game.

Last Meeting: October 20 in Manchester the Penguins won 4-3 in overtime with Brendan Mikkelson scoring the game winning goal for Wilkes-Barre.

Record: For WBS: 19-9-1-3 (42 pts., 2nd place East Division) — For MCH: 22-8-2-4 (50 pts., 1st place Atlantic Division)

Why you should care: Big test for both teams tonight. Manchester is an elite team. Wilkes-Barre is too, but is missing a lot of manpower. How close will this game really be?

Last Game: Tuesday in Wilkes-Barre, the Penguins won 5-2 over the Syracuse Crunch. Alton Zlobin scored his first AHL goal in the win. For Hartford, Sunday in Manchester, the Wolf Pack lost 5-2. Danny Syvret and Jesper Fast scored for the Pack.

Record: For WBS: 18-9-1-3 (40 pts., 2nd place East Division) — For HFD: 11-16-0-4 (26 pts., 5th place Northeast Division)

Why you should care: The Wolf Pack aren’t the best team that the Penguins will face this year, but if they underestimate this team, they will lose. Coach Hynes and crew need to make sure that the Pens are prepared for this one or else 2014 will begin with disappointment.

Last Game: Saturday in Hershey, the Pens lost in a  shootout to the Bears 2-1. Mike Carman scored the only goal for the Pens in the shootout loss. For Syracuse, they hosted the Norfolk Admirals Saturday and lost 6-3. Evan Rankin recorded a goal and an assist in the loss.

Why you should care: The Crunch are reeling right now. The Penguins must jump on them early so as not to work overtime and be late for their New Years Eve celebration parties.

Other Game to Watch: Norfolk is in Binghamton tonight in a matchup with huge East Division implications. A Binghamton win with a Penguins loss opens the lead to three points. A Norfolk win and a Binghamton loss and the Ads overtake the Penguins for second in the division. Of course a Penguins win and a Binghamton loss and the Pens are on top of the division again.

Last Game: Last night in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens lost 3-1 to the Norfolk Admirals. Tom Kostopoulos scored the only goal for the Penguins. For Hershey, the Bears hosted Syracuse last night and lost 3-2. Casey Wellman assisted on both Hershey goals in defeat.

Last Meeting: December 13 in Wilkes-Barre, the Pens won 5-3. Tom Kostopoulos scored two goals for the Pens in the win.

Record: For WBS: 17-9-1-2 (37 pts., 2nd place East Division) For HER: 12-12-2-3 (29 pts., 5th place East Division)

Why you should care: The Bears are reeling right now, seemingly unable to do anything right. The Pens are coming off a loss against a team in Norfolk that has their number right now. Wilkes-Barre’s had success against Hershey, will they tonight?

Other Game to Watch: If the Pens win tonight, they go back to first in the division. We’ll all be watching that tonight. The other game worth your attention is Norfolk against Syracuse in Central New York. An Admirals win coupled with a Penguins regulation loss and Norfolk and Wilkes-Barre are on even footing points wise.

Record: For WBS: 17-8-1-2 (37 pts., 1st place East Division) — For NOR: 14-11-1-4 (33 pts., 3rd place East Division)

Why you should care: Norfolk is in and are looking to where the Pens are at right now. Should be a very interesting matchup between the depleted Penguins and the determined Admirals.

Last Game: Last night at home, the Pens lost 4-1. Nick Drazenovic scored the only goal for Wilkes-Barre on a penalty shot in the third. For Syracuse, the Crunch lost 5-2 to the Binghamton Senators at home. Cedric Paquette and Brett Connolly bot had a goal and an assist in the loss.

Record: For WBS: 16-8-1-2 (35 pts., 1st place East Division) — For SYR: 12-11-1-3 (28 pts., 4th place East Division)

Why you should care: The Penguins and Crunch are currently in the same boat with call-ups and injuries to their respective parent clubs. These two teams are mirror images of one another so this will be a good test for both.
