Why You Should Care: Pens look to make it seven wins in a row against bitter rival Hershey on a Sunday afternoon in Wilkes-Barre. Last Meeting: October 14 in Allentown, the Phantoms won 3-2. The Penguins scored twice in the third but were not able to get the equalizing goal. Daniel Sprong and Garrett WIlson scored for the Pens in the loss.

Referee(s): Tim Mayer / Michael Mullen

Linesmen: Bob Goodman / Jud Ritter

Why You Should Care: Phantoms are down a lot of defensemen to recall to Philadelphia and are going to be stretched thin at the position. This is something that teh Penguins must exploit if they want to win tonight.

Other Game to Watch: Bridgeport visits Providence. The Sound Tigers are improved with reinforcements sent to them by the Islanders while Providence is coming off of a bad loss to Hershey last Saturday.

Next Five Games: HER 11/5, TOR 11/8, PRO 11/11, @ HER 11/12, @ BNG 11/17

GAMEDAY: @ Bridgeport 10/28

Who: Bridgeport Sound Tigers

Where: Webster Bank Arena

When: 7:00 p.m.

Last Game: Last night at home against the Hershey Bears, the Penguins won 3-2. Dominik Simon scored the game winning goal in the third period and Tristan Jarry stopped 30 of 32 to pick up the win.  For Bridgeport, the Sound Tigers were in Hartford Friday and steamrolled the Hartford Wolf Pack 5-1. Chris Gibson stopped 23 of 24, Josh Ho-Sang, fresh from the New York Islanders had a goal and an assist.

Record: For WBS: 5-2-0-0 // For BRI: 3-4-0-0

Referee(s): Guillaume Labonte / Peter MacDougall

Linesmen: Glen Cooke / Peter Hejna

Why You Should Care: Penguins hung tough with a better than their record would indicate Hershey Bears team. They are going to need to do the same with a top heavy Bridgeport team that has Alan Quine down on conditioning and Josh Ho-Sang down on straight up assignment. This isn’t a trap game for the Penguins in October, but if Wilkes-Barre doesn’t bring their best, they may spend the whole night fishing pucks out of their nets.

Other Game to Watch: Laval visits Toronto in a key North Division match up tonight.

GAMEDAY: vs. Hershey 10/27

vs.

Who: Hershey Bears

Where: Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza

When: 7:05 p.m.

Last Game: Saturday at home against the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Penguins won 3-2 in a shootout. The Penguins battled back from an 0-2 hole to force overtime and then the shootout round and then J-S Dea scored in the top of the second. Casey DeSmith denied all three Wolf Pack shooters. For Hershey, they were shutout in Rockford on Sunday, wrapping up their Midwest road trip.

Record: For WBS: 4-2-0-0 // For HER: 1-4-0-1

Referee(s): Furman South / Chris Schlenker

Linesmen: Libor Suchanek / J.P. Waleski

Why You Should Care: You shouldn’t need a reason to get up for a game against the Hershey Bears but I’ll give one to you anyway. The Bears come in winning just one game and are missing their two top goaltenders due to injury. They were shutout in their last game and thus far their season has been a disappointment. What better way to get back on track on the road in Wilkes-Barre. Now the Penguins aren’t going to allow that to happen so easy, but that is what makes this rivalry so much fun.

Promotion(s): Pittsburgh Penguins Calendar (first 3,000)

Other Game to Watch: Providence visits Binghamton in what I believe will be an interesting match up.

Next Five Games: @ BRI 10/28, @ LV 11/3, HER 11/5, TOR 11/8, PRO 11/11

GAMEDAY: vs. Hartford 10/21

vs.

Who: Hartford Wolf Pack

Where: Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza

When: 7:05 p.m.

Last Game: Last night at home against the Laval Rocket, the Penguins won a thriller 6-5 in overtime. Daniel Sprong had a hat trick and Teddy Blueger scored the overtime game winner. For Hartford, the Wolf Pack hosted the Belleville Senators and lost 5-1. Cole Schneider scored the only goal for Hartford in the loss.

Record: For WBS: 3-2-0-0 // For HFD: 3-2-0-0

Referee(s): Liam Sewell / Olivier Gouin

Linesmen: Tom DellaFranco / Jason Mandroc

Why You Should Care: Penguins look to continue their trend of scoring a lot of goals and winning hockey games against the Hartford Wolf Pack tonight. Hartford comes in looking to adjust from losing a game that they really either should have won or been more competitive in last night against Belleville.

Promotion(s): Zombie Night / Penguins Car Magnet

Other Game to Watch: Every team in the AHL is in action tonight, pay close attention to Lehigh Valley up in Binghamton tonight.

Next Five Games: HER 10/27, @ BRI 10/28, @ LV 11/3, HER 11/5, TOR 11/8

GAMEDAY: vs. Laval 10/20

vs.

Who: Laval Rocket

Where: Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza

When: 7:05 p.m.

Last Game: Sunday at home against Syracuse, the Penguins crunched the Crunch 6-1. Gage Quinney scored a goal and had two assists in his AHL debut and was named first star. Daniel Sprong scored again, he has goals in all four Penguins games to start the season. For Laval, the Rocket lost their first game of the season to the Binghamton Devils 5-1 with Nikita Scherbak scoring the only goal for the Rocket.

Record: For WBS: 2-2-0-0 // For LAV: 3-1-0-0

Referee(s): Andrew Howard / Stephen Thomson

Linesmen: Ryan Knapp / Jud Ritter

Why You Should Care: Despite scoring just one goal in their last outing, the Laval Rocket have scored the most goals in the AHL thus far with 18. The Penguins will need to shut that down quickly if they want to have success. Also, this is the first road game of the Laval Rocket’s season. This team reincarnated from the St. John’s IceCaps.

Promotion(s): Postgame Autographs

Other Game to Watch: Charlotte is off to a hot start, they visit Rochester tonight.

Next Five Games: HFD 10/21, HER 10/27, @ BRI 10/28, @ LV 11/3, HER 11/5

GAMEDAY: vs. Syracuse 10/15

vs.

Who: Syracuse Crunch

Where: Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza

When: 3:05 p.m.

Last Game: Last night in Allentown, the Pens got behind the Phantoms 3-0 and never were able to rally for the win coming up just short losing 3-2. Garrett Wilson and Daniel Sprong scored for Wilkes-Barre in the loss. For Syracuse, they hosted the Utica Comets and also lost by a score of 3-2. Erik Cernak and Cory Conacher scored for the Crunch in the loss.

Record: For WBS: 1-2-0-0 // For SYR: 1-2-0-1

Referee(s): Peter Tarnaris / Chris Waterstradt

Linesmen: Ryan Knapp / J.P. Waleski

Why You Should Care: Early days, but a feeling that both teams need this win this afternoon. No one wants to start their work week starting at a 1-3 record.
